The Seeking Savior

Luke 15:1-10

I.  The Savior who Pursues

 1. Genuine love

 3.  Heard their story

 4. Challenged them/truth

 5. Gave them Gospel hope

 6. Trusted the Holy Spirit

II. The Savior who bears the Burden

The Sheep who needed Rescued

 1. Foolish and helpless in Nature

Costly to gain back

 The Coin that needs Found

  1. Hopeless

  2. Valuable to the Owner

Still valued when tarnished

Do I share the same desires and joys as my Savior?

FAMILY FAITH SHEET

Transformation Scripture:  …We must obey God rather than men.    Acts 5:29   (CRefs.-Deut. 26:16, Joshua 1:8, 1:15,  Matt. 7:21)

Monday –10-15-12 - Reflecting on Yesterday

  1. Read Luke 15:1-10 and discuss Sunday’s message with someone.
  2. What characteristics can you think of that were not mentioned Sunday that would draw you to a person to listen to his/her story?
  3. Ask someone how contagious you are in your Gospel-walk?

Tuesday- 10-16-12 -Reflecting on This Past Sunday

  1. Read Luke 15:1-10 again.
  2. What do you see as you reread this passage?
  3. Read Isaiah 40:11 and Jeremiah 23:2. How is the Lord described, and how were Israel’s leaders NOT like Him? What problems did this cause, and how do you see this happening today in churches and homes?
  4. Pray for God’s appointed leaders of our country, homes, churches etc.

Wednesday – 10-17-12 - Reflecting on This Past Sunday

  1. Read Luke 15:1-10 again, and read Matt 18:12-14. What addition do you see from Matthew’s account? What does this tell you about people who are separated from God after they die?
  2. Read Luke 10:21, John 15:11, 17:13, and Heb. 12:2. What is a main characteristic of Jesus?
  3. Do you have a difficult time seeing Jesus as joyful? Why or why not?
  4. Would the people who know you the best say you are characterized by His joy, and if not, what is hindering His joy in and through you?

Thursday, 10-18-12 – Preparing for This Upcoming Sunday

  1. Read Luke 15:11-32. How does this parable add to the previous two?
  2. How is this parable different? (Think how many sheep, how many coins, how many brothers, etc.)
  3. Have you been most like the younger son or the older son towards God? Why do you think that is?

Friday, 10-19-12 – Preparing Ourselves for This Sunday

  1. Read Luke 15:11-32. What do you see after reading this a second time?
  2. The second brother represents the Pharisees who looked good on the outside but were corrupt on the inside. How can we guard against this?

Saturday, 10-20-12 – Preparing for Tomorrow

  1. Read Luke 15:11-32. Now read Romans 14:17. How does this parable about God’s nature fit with this Romans Scripture?
  2. Pray for tomorrow’s service, for any prodigals you know (maybe even yourself), anyone burdened by religion and performance (maybe even yourself), and for our presidential and community elections.
