2. In what ways was your life like this man in the text before you trusted in Christ as your Savior & Lord?
3. What are the main changes that have happened in your life now that you have trusted in Christ alone for your salvation?
4. Who is God leading you to speak with about your faith in Christ?

 # 2- Preparing for next Sunday

Real Joy: Knowing Who We Are

Philippians 1:1-2 & Acts 16:11-40

 1. Read Philippians 1:1-2. How important are affirming greetings in your home?
2. How is every believer identified in these two verses?
3. What is the importance of Paul focusing on identity before he discusses obedience?
4. Honestly, what words would you use to describe yourself?
5. Why did Paul include the overseers and deacons as well as the congregation in his greeting? See also Philippians 1:27-28.
6. If you have extra time, read Acts 16:11-40 to see how this church got started.
7. Praise God for making you “His servant” and “His saint”.

I. Our Life Without Christ

1. We are imprisoned.

1 John 5:19 …we know that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.

2. We are destructive.

John 10:10   The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy...

3. We are isolated.

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have built barriers between you and your God, and your sins have made Him hide His face from you so that He does not listen.

4. We oppose the Lord.

John 3:19-20   This is the judgment…men loved the darkness rather than the Light…For everyone who does evil hates the Light…

A. “My desires” are more important than God’s desires.
B. “My agenda” is better than God's agenda.
C. “My truth” is superior to God’s truth.

II. Our Life With Christ

1. I can be confident in my eternal destiny.

1 John 3:8   …The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

John 5:24 Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”

 2. My present needs will be met.

Philippians 4:19   And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

3. My reason for living will be changed.

Psalm 37:3-5

3 Trust in the Lord …

4 Take delight in the Lord…

5 Commit your way to the Lord…

Acts 20:24 I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace.
