2.  Walk in Contentment

Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.                                               Philippians 4:11 (NASB

If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content.

I Timothy 6:8 (NASB)

Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.”                                                           Hebrews 13:5 (NASB

Questions for this week:

I.  For Starters:

  1. What three truths do you believe about God without any doubts?
  2. What would you say is the toughest habit to break and why?
  3. What does knowing God’s attributes do for you in your life of living victoriously over sin? (Example—does mediating on His holiness affect the choices you make during the day?)

II. Overview of Scripture

  1. Read Genesis 39:1-23. Pick out some clear truths from this passage concerning having victory over temptation and share them with someone you know.
  2. Sin is not only rebellion against our Creator but it also is called “defilement”. Look up the word defilement and then read John 10:10. How does “defilement” fit into what Satan wants to do to us?
  3. Read 2 Corinthians 7:1.
  • How did Paul address the Corinthians although they were very immature in their faith?
  • What does he remind them that they possess and why is this important to living a victorious life in Christ?
  • What did the Corinthian believers need to get rid of?
  • Why should we today seek to “perfect” holiness in our lives?

 (See 1 Peter 2:9)

  1. Read 2 Corinthians 12:7-10.
  • Why might Paul have become a prideful person?
  • What did God give him to prevent that from happening?
  • Has God ever done this with you? Explain to someone what you learned.
  • What was Paul’s response to the thorn?
  • Paul said he had become “well content” with problems. Look up the word content and evaluate how you react in trials.

     5.  Read 2 Corinthians 5:14-15.

  • Sum up the main truth in your own words.
  • What did Paul say should be a motivation for us to live in a way to honor Christ and why is this motivation the key to honoring Christ when no one is looking?
  • Why did Christ purchase you? Vs 15
  • How would you encourage other believers who need to grow in understanding how much Christ loves them?

III. Growing deeper

 1.     Review Sunday’s message with someone.

 2.     Pray for one another. Use the above truths to guide your prayers.
