Real Joy: Together in the Gospel
Philippians 1:3-8

I.     We are together in a common purpose.

1. In our community

2. In the world

Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

II.    We partner together in that purpose.

1. Will you go? (desire, gifting and calling)

2. Will you support?

III. We partner together in concrete ways.

1. Financially

Philippians 4:15, 16
You yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the first preaching of the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you alone;  for even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs.

2. Sending short-term assistance

2 Corinthians 11:9
When I was present with you and was in need, I was not a burden to anyone; for when the brethren came from Macedonia they fully supplied my need, and in everything I kept myself from being a burden to you, and will continue to do so.

3. Prayer

4. Long-term commitment

IV. We experience the results of partnering together.

1. Eternal reward

Philippians 4:17
Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for the profit which increases to your account.

2. Assurance of the completion of God’s work

3. Real joy in our relationships
