“Joy” is a Spirit produced enjoyment that comes from having confidence in God and His promises.

I. The Request
1. Abounding love

Ephesians 5:2 Walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us…

1 Thessalonians 3:12-13   May the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another, and for all people, …so that He may establish your hearts without blame in holiness…..

 2. Knowledge and Discernment

Proverbs 18:15   For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

1 Corinthians 13:6   (Love) does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth.

II. The Results

1. Distinguish the excellent
2. Growing Christ-like

1 John 2:6 He that says he abides in him ought to walk even as he walked.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

1 Corinthians 10:32-33   Give no offense either to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God;… so that they may be saved.
