Luke 10:25-37

Inheriting Eternal Life

                                                            Luke 10:25-37

Notes:

I. Justification of our sin & defensiveness when we are exposed display the severity of our condition with God.

Mark 7:6 - He said …"Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites… This
people honors Me with their LIPS, But their heart is far away from Me.”

Genesis 3:6-10 – (Eve) took from its fruit and ate; & she gave also to her husband with
her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, & they knew
that they were naked; (exposed) & they sewed fig leaves together & made
themselves loin coverings.
Then the Lord God called to the man, & said to him, "Where are you?"  He said, "I heard the sound of You in the garden, & I was afraid because I was (exposed) so I hid myself."

Psalm 109:22 - For I am afflicted & needy, & my heart is wounded within me.

II. Christ-like heart transformation is shown in loving God supremely & loving our neighbors as ourselves.

III. The inability to love God & our neighbors reveals the lack of having the nature of Grace & Truth.

John 1:14 - The Word became flesh….full of grace & truth.

Micah 6:8 - …what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?

Exodus 23:4-5 - If you meet your enemy's ox or his donkey wandering away, you shall
surely return it to him…

Leviticus 19:33-34 - …The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among
you, & you shall love him as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of
Egypt; I am the Lord your God.

Matthew 23:15   Page #984           &   11:28

Religious Bondage we see in Erie:

The Council of Trent 1545-1563
- Denied every Reformation doctrine & hurled 125 anathemas (eternal damnations)…

~
Sixth session, canons concerning justification:
“If anyone says that the justice received is
not preserved and also not increased before God through good works, but that those works are merely the fruits and signs of justification obtained, but not the cause of its increase, Let him be anathema”

The Second Vatican Council confirms:
"The bishops, succors of the apostles, receive from the Lord . . . the mission of teaching all peoples, and of preaching the Gospel to every creature, so that all men may attain salvation through faith, Baptism and the observance of the Commandments"   (P2068).

~Seventh session, … baptism:  “If anyone says that baptism is optional, that is, not necessary for salvation, Let him be anathema”

Galatians 1:6-10 (Page #1164) &  2:1-20
