God’s Commission, Our Reluctance

Jeremiah 1:4-8

 I. The foundation for our commission to serve God

1. God KNEW us before conception

2. God FORMED us in the womb

3. God SET US APART in Christ before we were born

4. God APPOINTED us to serve Him

II. Reasons for our reluctance

1. Perceived INABILTY AND INEXPERIENCE

-God’s reply to overcome:

a. Remember who is LORD

b. Make OBEDIENCE your focus

c. God is the SOURCE of our ability to serve Him

2. FEAR

-God’s reply to overcome: God is WITH you and will DELIVER you

3. To what specific ministries has God called you? How has God formed and equipped you to serve in these roles?

4. What causes you to be reluctant to serve God at times?  How does God address that reluctance in this text?

5. Pray for others and yourself using the text.

1. Read Luke 20:1-18.

2. What was Jesus doing in verse 1?

3. Why were the leaders stumped by Jesus? (vs 2-8)

4. Read vs. 9 - 16.  What are the main truths of this parable?

5. In vs. 17-18, Jesus describes those who reject Him. What is their fate?

6. Why were the spiritual leaders unfit to lead? (vs 19)

7. Pray for anyone who comes to mind.
