Giving That Pleases God

Luke 6:38

 

 

I.          Generous Kingdom giving is to be motivated by grace.

II.        Generous Kingdom giving is often in spite of severe circumstances.

III.       Generous Kingdom giving enhances & completes our joy.

IV.       Generous Kingdom giving is to be willful, not coerced & according to our ability

V.        Generous Kingdom giving is a decision to participate in the building up of God’s people & therefore will often be sacrificial.

VI.       Generous Kingdom giving comes after we are submitted to God & His purposes.

I.  For Starters:

1.   What is easier for you to give stuff or words of encouragement and why?

2.  Would you consider yourself to be a generous person? Why or why not?

3.  In what ways have you become more generous or giving over the years?

4.  How would you answer this question? – How much is enough?

II. Overview of Scripture

  5. What does verse 3 reveal about their faith and priorities?
  6. Why were they begging Paul to be involved in his missionary journey? (4)
  7. What affect did their giving have on Paul and his ministry partners? (5a)
  8. What must be first settled in order for us to become generous givers? (5b)
  9. The Corinthians had been asked a year ago to give. Now Titus is there collecting the offering and reminding the Corinthians what the Macedonians had done. Paul calls this a “gracious work”. Why do some believers not see encouraging them to give generously as a “gracious work”?
  10. What all are we to “abound” in? (7)
  11. What grand truth should always motivate us to generously give to God’s work? (9)
  12. What is your abundant giving to MCC doing? (14a)

III. Growing deeper

  1. Review Sunday’s message with someone.
  2. Just exactly how is one’s faith revealed in his giving?
  3. He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income….   Ecclesiastes 5:10  - Think about it, why is this statement true?
