Fulfilling our Godly Potential

February 28th, 2010

Our Godly Potential is fulfilled when we do God’s work by God’s power.

 1.  Our potential comes from God and belongs to him.

“…and entrusted his possessions to them.”

 2.  Our potential is unique but there is common accountability.

 3.  Our potential is based on the ability God gives each one of us.

 4.  The purpose of our potential is to make a profit for Christ.

 5.  We reach our potential only through obedience.

“Immediately the one who had received the five talents went and traded with them…”

 6.  Fulfilling our potential requires complete dependence on the power of Christ.

“For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”   2 Chronicles 16:9

“Abide in Me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.  I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”   John 15:4-5

“And what more shall I say?  For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weaknesses were made strong, became might in war, put foreign armies to flight.”    Hebrews 11:32-34

 7.  Fulfilling our potential has eternal rewards.

 8.  The result of neglecting our potential depends on our status before Christ.
