Being A Disciple Of Jesus Christ

Luke 6:12-19

1.         He Chose His disciples after listening to the Father.

"You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit…”                                                                  John 15:16

"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.”                                                 John 6:44

Mark 3:13-15    Page #997

2.         He wanted His disciples to be His.

"Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.”       John 15:9

"The Lord your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior.  He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.”                                                                                             Zephaniah 3:17

"The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit."                                                                       John 3:8

3.         He planned that the key to “discipleship” would be that His disciples would walk with Him.

"A student is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.”                                               Luke 6:40

4.  He commissioned His disciples to Kingdom ministry, not to create big churches.

The Kingdom of God is the complete rule of God in & over every area of our life.

From that time Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."                                                         Matthew 4:17

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”        Matthew 5:3

"For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.”                                               Matthew 5:20

Jesus said, “Pray, then, in this way: 'Your kingdom come.  Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven…”                                                                                   Matthew 6:9-10
