Voting and the World Mess

Posted by Todd Cyphers on

Every day now we are hearing of attacks on Americans abroad, riots in the streets in many places of the world and much civil unrest. In our country we are falling further behind in the arena of education, families are breaking apart, many are without good jobs, our government is printing off 40 billion dollars a month to try and fix a slowing economy and we now have a government deficit that our children and grandchildren will inherit. There is a battle going on for this world and it is clear that this cosmic battle is being played out in many different ways. I often pray that God’s will be done not only because I want his will done but also because I often do not know how to pray. If we have only an earthly perspective one could get discouraged fairly easily.

I find peace in this great truth from Daniel 2:20-22 (NASBU) -  Daniel said,

"Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him. "It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men And knowledge to men of understanding. "It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him.

It is that time of season again when we in America get the privilege to vote our convictions. God may use us this year as the means to make significant changes in our community, nation and world. One vehicle He has given us is the power and right to vote for who we desire to represent us.

If you have not registered to vote, please do so. If you are a registered voter and follower of Christ, please go vote your Biblical convictions and then leave the results to God. Remember also we are to pray for our leaders and obey them unless they ask us to go against our Risen Lord. We are to speak well of them even if we disagree with their policies.

1 Peter 2:17 (NASB-U)  - Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.

God still reigns and His control over this universe is still intact. We, however, cannot sit back and be complacent. We know our obedience, prayers, voting, and living the Gospel all are important tools in His arsenal of seeing His will done on this earth. I pray for us to be found faithful in our calling to live out the Gospel message in His truth and through the enablement of His Spirit all for his glory!

In His Grace,

Todd
