Reviewing This Past Sunday

The Story Begins: God’s Dysfunctional Covenant Family

Genesis 27:1-40

2. What is an event in your life that you didn’t understand at the time but later realized God used to bless your life?

3. How does the story of God’s continual grace through messed-up people free you to be part of His plan?

4. In what kinds of situations do we find it easiest to lie? What do those situations tell us about what our hearts are craving?

5. What hope does it give you to know that God works even through our deceit and sinfulness to accomplish His plan?

6. How does the truth that God’s plan is always working out for God’s glory and our ultimate good help you face the surprises, disappointments, and hardships of your life?

“In the great mystery of grace, God commandeers even our stupid decisions to accomplish His purposes in us.”             J. D. Greear

Preparing for Next Sunday

The Story Begins: The God That Gives You New Names

Genesis 32: 22-32

1. Read the passage and ask the Lord to reveal Himself and His truth to you. (Genesis 32:22-32)

2. HIGHLIGHT a verse or truth that stands out to you and write it out.

3. EXPLAIN the text in your own words to make sure you see the big picture of God’s Story.  (Who wrote it & why was it written? To whom it was written? What is the context? How does the text point to the Father, Son or Spirit? What is the text telling us about our new identity as believers in Christ or what we are to be doing?)

4. APPLY a truth from the text to your own life. (Focus on what God is saying to you and what is your act of obedience, confession, praise, giving thanks, etc.)

5. RESPOND in prayer and go live out what God reveals to you from the Scriptures.
